GEORGE WHITE'S BERGER SECOND FASTEST AT IMOLA TEST
George White-supported rider Maxime Berger went second-fastest in the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup test session at the revised Imola circuit in Italy yesterday. The Frenchman, who rides a CBR1000RR Fireblade for the Ten Kate Honda Junior team set a benchmark time of 1\'53.133s with 20 minutes of the day remaining, but local Italian Claudio Corti knocked Berger off the top with just a few minutes left.
Berger currently lies in third place in the Superstock 1000 table, 12 points behind Corti and 23 points from series leader, Xavier Simeon, who was third fastest yesterday. The championship, which runs alongside the World Superbike series, returns to the Imola circuit near Bologna in northern Italy for the first time in three years over the weekend of 25-27 September.
In the Junior Superstock championship, Ten Kate Honda\'s British rider, Gino Rea, set the fifth fastest time of the Imola test on his George White-backed Honda CBR600RR. Italian Danilo Petrucci, who leads the series by just four points from second-placed Rea, set the fastest time yesterday.
Today (Thursday, 15 July) and tomorrow see the World Superbike and World Supersport riders testing at Imola before heading off to Brno in the Czech Republic for next weekend\'s tenth round (24-26 July).
